CLPA List of Upcoming DC Area Policy Meetings (September 26th -September 30th)

Here is CLPA’s weekly list of upcoming meetings.

The DC Council this week will hear a number of education bills. Many if the bills to be heard have a focus on k-12 and college sports in two of their Committee of the Whole meetings. There are a number of public hearings in the Council this week for a full list, look at the calendar on the DC Council webpage.

In Maryland, both Charles County Council and Montgomery County Council are not in session this week, but the Prince George's County Council is, and they have a packed agenda. The Council will hear a number of bills in their Tuesday hearing. Please see this week's agenda for the full list. A few of the most important bills are highlighted below. A number of the bills deal with both small businesses and the County's Homestead Property Tax Credit, which limits the increase in taxable assessments each year to a fixed percentage. The Council will also host their Police Accountability Board informational meeting.

Virginia has a relatively slow week policy-wise. In Alexandria, the City Council is holding its second Legislative Meeting. There are no major bills to be heard, but they will discuss the creation of the City's Office of Climate Action to address the climate crisis. The Council will also finalize its response to Governor Youngkin’s “2022 Model Policies on the Privacy, Dignity, and Respect for All Students and Parents in Virginia's Public Schools.”Fairfax is also in session and will receive an update on the I-495 and I-66 Megaprojects which have seen much construction in the area.
