CLPA List of Upcoming DC Area Policy Meetings (October 31st -November 4th)

Here are the most essential policy meetings that residents should be paying attention to around the DC area this week.


The DC Council will have a Legislative meeting week on a number of bills including B24-0798, the New Markets Tax Credit Real Property Tax Exemption Amendment Act of 2022. This bill wold provide a property tax exemption for property that belongs to Qualified Low Income Community Businesses participating in transactions qualifying for the federal government's New Markets Tax Credit. In Maryland, the Montgomery County Council will interview and approve the appointment of the Assistant Chief of Police, Captain Nicholas R. Augustine. They will also have a public hearing on a resolution to that will amend Council Rules of Procedure, as well as final vote of a number of bills meetings, including one that will require radon testing in multifamily and single-family rental housing.


Virginia is quiet this week with a number of legislative bodies being in recess but the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing this week. They will receive comments on their proposed legislative program to be presented to the 2023 Virginia General Assembly. The public hearing will occur at 3:00 pm tomorrow.
