District of Columbia
DC Council
The DC Council will hold a legislative meeting tomorrow at noon to conduct final readings and votes on several proposed bills Among the measures is the Local Rent Supplement Program Eligibility Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-49), which seeks to expand eligibility for housing support under the Local Rent Supplement Program, helping more residents access affordable housing. The Seizure-Safe Schools Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-571) aims to ensure that schools are better prepared to support students with seizure disorders by mandating training and protocols for seizure management. Meanwhile, the Retired Firefighter and Police Officer Redeployment Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-610) proposes utilizing retired first responders to fill critical roles, addressing workforce shortages while leveraging their expertise.
Other bills include the Automatic Voter Registration Technical Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-752), which fine-tunes the city’s automatic voter registration process to improve efficiency and accuracy, and the Rulemaking Public Comment Modernization Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-790), designed to make it easier for residents to engage in public rulemaking processes through updated comment procedures. The Illegal Dumping Enforcement Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-135) strengthens enforcement against illegal dumping, helping to protect the environment and improve neighborhood cleanliness. Additionally, the Great Streets Program Expansion Neighborhood Retail Priority Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-488) focuses on supporting neighborhood businesses by expanding eligibility for funding under the Great Streets Program.
The meeting will also consider the Radiation Protection Act of 2024 (Bill 25-672), which updates standards for radiation safety to protect public health. The Child Behavioral Health Services Dashboard Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-759) proposes creating a public dashboard to track the availability and usage of behavioral health services for children, increasing transparency and accountability. The next legislative meeting is scheduled for November 12, 2024, at 12:00 p.m.

Alexandria City
Alexandria City Council
The Alexandria City Council will meet tomorrow at 7 pm for its scheduled legislative meeting. During the meeting they will discuss a range of items, including a proclamation honoring the Annual Scottish Christmas Walk, oral and written reports on the 2024 Alexandria Resident Survey results, and a progress update on the City Hall Renovation and Market Square redevelopment project.
Council members are expected to consider several key resolutions, including the approval of private medical transport services by Eagle Medical 360 LLC, support for grant applications for the Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) and Regional Surface Transportation Program (RSTP) Funds, which relate to transportation and infrastructure projects, and updates to the Senior Rent Relief Program to address economic changes impacting low-income and disabled residents. The Council will also review lease agreements for city office spaces and community resources, as well as funding requests for future transportation initiatives.
Alexandria City Board of Education
The Alexandria City Board of Education will not have a full Board meeting this week however, today, there will be a Joint City Council/School Board (CC/SB) Work Session on the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Budget at 6 pm. This session will focus on developing the FY 2026-2035 CIP Budget, with discussions aligned with the strategic goal of resource allocation to support governance and long-term planning. There will be presentations detailing proposed budget initiatives, funding priorities, and infrastructure enhancements for Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) and city-wide capital projects. The work session will also be accessible to the public through live streaming on the ACPS website, cable channel 71 in Alexandria, and via Zoom for those who register.
Arlington County

Fairfax County
Fairfax County Board of Supervisors
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors will be in recess this week and will not have a public meeting. However, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors and the Fairfax County School Board Budget Committee will have a joint meeting at 3 pm and will focus on the presentation of the Joint County and Schools FY 2026 Fiscal Forecast.
County Executive Bryan Hill, Schools Superintendent Dr. Michelle C. Reid, Fairfax County Chief Financial Officer Christina Jackson, FCPS Assistant Superintendent for Financial Services Leigh Burden, and Fairfax County Department of Management and Budget Director Phil Hagen will deliver a 90-minute presentation. The session will explore key projections, financial challenges, and opportunities for collaboration between the County and Schools, providing critical insights to shape future budget priorities. Participants will use this discussion as a foundation for preparing the FY 2026 Advertised Budgets, which will be further reviewed in a joint meeting scheduled for February 25, 2025.
