Due to technical issues, we were unable to provide an update yesterday, but thankfully, we can today.
Today at 1:00 pm, the DC Council will host a "Legislative meeting" where they will vote on a large number of bills via the consent agenda and vote on a few bills on the non-consent agenda. Bills on the consent agenda will most likely be approved by the Council. Included in this pack of bills are ones we have discussed before, such as B24-0649, the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women Amendment Act of 2022, and B24-0419, the No Senior Hungry Omnibus Amendment Act of 2021. However, on the non-consent agenda, there should be considerable debate on B24-0455 - Uniform Athletes Agents Act Amendment Act of 2021 and B24-0416 - Revised Criminal Code Act of 2021.
Maryland legislative bodies are quiet again this week, but the Montgomery County Council will have the final reading on Expedited Bill 21-22, which would prohibit the possession of firearms in or near places of public assembly. CLPA will provide a vote report on this bill after it concludes. Virginia, like Maryland, is relatively quiet this week. There are no meetings in the Alexandria City Council or the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, however, the Arlington County Board will have its Fiscal Year 2024 Budget Preview as well as its Fiscal Year 2022 Close-Out.
