District of Columbia

DC Council

The DC Council will have a Legislative meeting tomorrow at noon. There will be a first reading on the following proposed bills:

  1. Healthy Homes and Residential Electrification Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-119)

  2. Open Movie Captioning Requirement Act of 2024 (Bill 25-151)

  3. Revised Project Labor Agreement Cost Threshold Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-469)

  4. Health Occupations Revision General Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-545)

  5. Vulnerable Youth Guardianship Protection Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-44)

During this session, there will also be a final reading and vote on temporary legislation. Temporary legislation refers to laws that are enacted for a limited duration:

  1. Rent Stabilized Housing Inflation Protection Continuation Temporary Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-718)

  2. Streatery Program and Endorsement Deadline Temporary Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-720)

  6. Energy Benchmarking Reporting Extension Temporary Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-730)

  7. Secure DC Omnibus Temporary Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-736)

  8. Opioid Crisis and Juvenile Crime Public Emergencies Extension Authorization Temporary Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-734)

  9. Autonomous Vehicle Testing Permit Requirement Temporary Amendment Act of 2024 (Bill 25-709)

DC State Board of Education

The DC State Board of Education will have a public meeting this Wednesday at 5:30 pm.



Maryland General Assembly:

The Maryland House of Delegates and the Maryland Senate are in session.

Board of Charles County Commissioners

The Charles County Board of Education will not hold a public meeting this week


Montgomery County

Montgomery County Council

The Montgomery County Council meets tomorrow at 9 am for its weekly meeting. The legislative session includes the final reading of Bill 3-24 concerning the hours of operation for Late Night Establishments. The agenda also features public hearings on various projects and appropriations, such as the FY25 Capital Budget and CIP considerations. Additionally, the District Council Session covers important actions like the Takoma Park Minor Master Plan Amendment and Zoning Text Amendment 24-01. Work sessions and interviews for County Executive nominees are also scheduled.

Montgomery County Board of Education

The Montgomery County Board of Education will hold a business meeting this Thursday. Unfortunately, an agenda has not been made public as of today.


Prince George's County

Prince George's County Council

The Prince George's County Council will meet tomorrow at 11 am. During this meeting, the Council will have the First Reading of CB-028-2024, an ordinance concerning nonresidential base zones and permitted principal uses related to cigar lounges/clubs, and is scheduled for referral to the Planning, Housing and Economic Development (PHED) committee. The Consent Agenda includes the introduction of Resolutions, such as CR-023-2024 and CR-024-2024, concerning water and sewer plan amendments and the FY 2025 Annual Action Plan for Housing and Community Development, respectively.

CB-020-2024, an act concerning woodland and wildlife habitat conservation, is up for introduction to the Council. This bill would revise existing regulations to comply with state mandates regarding forest conservation, covering areas like definitions, applicability, exemptions, plan review, enforcement, and conservation requirements. The bill is set for introduction by the Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy, and Environment (TIEE) Committee and has undergone favorable recommendations with amendments.

Prince George's County Board of Education

The Prince George's County Board of Education will not hold a public meeting this week.



Virginia General Assembly:


Alexandria City

Alexandria City Council:

The Alexandria City Council will hold a legislative meeting tomorrow at 7 pm.An item of note on the agenda is the Introduction and First Reading, Consideration, and Passage on First Reading of an Ordinance to Increase the Late Payment Penalty on Personal Property Taxes. This ordinance aimed to raise the late payment penalty from 10% if paid no more than 30 days late to 25% if paid more than 30 days past the due date. The discussion emphasized the importance of maximizing revenue through allowed penalties while ensuring fair tax collection practices. The proposed ordinance was part of the FY 2025 Proposed Budget and is set for a second reading and public hearing on April 13, 2024.

Alexandria City Board of Education

The Alexandria City Board of Education is not scheduled to have a public meeting this week.


Arlington County

Arlington County Board

The Arlington County Board will hold a County Budget Public Hearing tomorrow at 7 p.m., but unfortunately, the agenda has not been made public.

Arlington County School Board

The Arlington County School Board will have a public meeting this week.
