Here is a recap of a policy from Washington, DC, Maryland, and Virginia that CLPA covered during the week of July 25th-July 31st as well as a list of upcoming meetings for the week of August 2nd-August 6th.

July 25th-July 31st Policy Recap

Washington, DC

Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that on Saturday, July 31 at 5:00 a.m., all people over the age of two must wear a mask indoors, regardless of vaccination status. See the link below for the recent Situational Update from Washington, DC Mayor Bowser.

Maryland (Prince Georges County)

Last week the Maryland Citizens Redistricting Commission, a bipartisan commission created to draw fair and representative legislative and congressional district maps for the 2022 elections, held a virtual public meeting.

Virginia (Fairfax County)

The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, in a unanimous vote, requested that County Executive Bryan J. Hill evaluate how to incorporate a vaccine requirement when employees fully return to work in the Fall. The requirement would include health and religious exemptions but would mandate unvaccinated employees who don’t meet those exemptions to wear masks and agree to weekly coronavirus testing. This from the Board action made Fairfax the first municipality in the DC Area to officially seek ways to respond more aggressively to a new surge in COVID-19 infections.
