District of Columbia

DC Council


The DC Council is in recess and will not hold a legislative meeting this week.


Maryland

Maryland General Assembly


The Maryland House of Delegates and the Maryland Senate have adjourned for the year but will be back in session in January 2026


Board of Charles County Commissioners


The Charles County Board of County Commissioners is in recess and will not be in session this week.


Montgomery County Council


The Montgomery County Council will convene tomorrow at 9 am. That saw the introduction of new bills and the final reading of others aimed at enhancing community infrastructure and governance. Among the key items, Bill 28-25 introduced by Councilmember Glass, seeks to prohibit parking in bikeways, a move aimed at improving safety and accessibility for cyclists. A public hearing for this bill is set for September 30, 2025. In addition, Expedited Bill 16-25, which addresses the Employees' Retirement System's membership requirements, was recommended for enactment, streamlining procedures for county employees. Another notable bill, Bill 17-25, seeks to amend procurement rules around internet access services to simplify exemptions for service contracts.


The legislative session also included the Zoning Text Amendment 25-05, which focuses on development standards and optional public benefits, offering more flexibility for urban developers. With these bills and amendments, the council continues its work in shaping policies that strike a balance between growth, safety, and community welfare in Montgomery County. These discussions reflect a forward-thinking approach to address the evolving needs of the county’s residents and infrastructure.

The Prince George's County Council is in recess and will not be in session this week.

The Virginia House of Delegates and the Virginia Senate have adjourned for the 2024 session. They will return in January 2026.
