With the July 4th holiday this week, a number of legislative bodies are on recess this week. However, the DC Council has a Health Public Hearing, and the Prince George's County Council will hear a number of important bills during their sessions. Here is CLPA's weekly update highlighting several of the key meetings and topics of interest taking place across the region.
District of Columbia
DC Council
On Thursday, July 6, the DC Council will hold a Health Public Hearing at 10:00 am. The council members will discuss two significant pieces of legislation: B25-0244, the “Prescription Drug Monitoring Program Amendment Act of 2023,” and B25-0125, the “Uniform Telehealth Act of 2023”
DC State Board of Education
There will be no public meeting of the DC State Board of Education this week.
Maryland
Maryland General Assembly:
Both the Maryland House of Delegates and the Maryland Senate are currently adjourned and not in session.
Charles County
Board of Charles County Commissioners
There is no the Board of Charles County Commissioners this week. The public can access additional resources such as the 2023 Local Legislative Proposals Package and the 2023 BOCC Session Calendar with Public Comment Dates.
Charles County Board of Education
There will be no board meeting of the Charles County Board of Education this week.
Montgomery County
Montgomery County Council
The Montgomery County Council will not meet this week.

Prince George's County
Prince George's County Council
The Prince George's County Council has scheduled a meeting on Wednesday, July 5, at 10:00 am. During the meeting, they will address two important topics.
The first one is CB-055-2023, titled "Applications—Standard Review Procedures—Public Hearing Testimony." This bill aims to introduce a new requirement for subdivision applications. It states that a summary of both opposing and supporting testimony given during public hearings, whether spoken or written, must be included in the administrative record.
The second topic on the agenda is CB-070-2023. This bill proposes changes to the regulations concerning cannabis dispensaries in specific zones.
CLPA will discuss these bills in greater detail at a later time.
Prince George's County Board of Education
There will be no board meeting of the Prince George's County Board of Education this week.
Virginia
Virginia General Assembly:

Alexandria City:

The Alexandria City Council will hold a Public Hearing Meeting Tuesday, June 27 at 5:30, where the Council will here testimony regarding mandatory and permissive local authority granted by General Assembly legislative action in 2023.

No meeting of the Alexandria City School Board is scheduled for this week.
Arlington County

There will be no meeting of the Arlington County Board this week.
